Camille Garro, president of Camille Garro Interiors, did not have to think all that hard about what she wanted to be when she grew up. As a child, Camille accompanied her mother from one fabric shop to another and together they transformed their family's little cape home to their little palace. Witnessing firsthand the magical transformation of space with the proper balance of color, texture and furniture, Camille developed a lifelong passion for design and the belief that great design can truly enrich one's life.
From elaborate Victorians to cutting-edge contemporary, from classic traditionals to cozy English Tudors, Camille continues to create magic with all her projects, holding firm to her belief that indeed great design should also be accessible to everyone. Since most of her projects tend to be ongoing, continuing into Phase II, III, IV, Camille stresses the importance of client/designer relationships. Describing her ideal client as someone who shares the same passion about their home as she has, Camille states, "I love my clients to be excited and ready to learn style. My job is to define and redefine style, my clients' job is to react and act." Indeed, after 20 years of successfully interpreting clients' needs and wants, ultimately providing them with their dream home, Camille's philosophy seems to work!
Betty Wheeler - Associate
Betty Wheeler's specialty in home staging and commercial design brings another dimension to the array of services that Camille Garro Interiors has to offer. Seeing the increased need in today's challenging real estate market for well presented homes, Betty was able to rise to the occasion by implementing in full force her vast experience in the home staging market. Some of her staging projects have included being involved with "dream builders" for White Fox Builders at The Pine Hills in Plymouth Ma. As well as many home staging projects with The Wellesley Companies for homes they have built in Weston, Wellesley, and other Metro West suburbs of Boston, Ma.
Her careful analysis of each home that is getting ready to be sold starts with open dialogue between property owner, realtors and if necessary, builders. This symbiotic relationship is critical in order to establish all the necessary criteria such as assessing the potential buyer's need, budget, and comparable values of homes in the neighborhood. Betty's objective viewpoint can then assess what value added design ingredients are necessary without the interference of emotional or sentimental distractions. Her ability to highlight the assets of each home while minimizing the less marketable aspects, is a key value Betty adds to each home staging project.
Betty Wheeler's comprehensive background and expertise in Commercial Interior Design began in 1983 when she was hired by Scandinavian Design, an award winning national retail furniture chain, to become liaison with Bergmeyer and Associates, a renowned architectural firm, and local contractors, to help design store interiors for new locations in the greater New York City and Washington D.C. areas. Eventually Betty became corporate visual merchandise manager, supervising a team of seven designers. The challenge of maintaining one complete corporate identity, while designing and displaying over 50 retail locations with very diverse physical sizes and space parameters, was accomplished through careful management, communication and creative insight.
Betty's retail design accomplishments caught the attention of In Home Furnishings, where she was then hired to be Creative Director. As Creative Director, her responsibilities included being a member of the buying team, overseeing and styling photo shoots and day to day supervision of store presentation.
When Camille Garro, president of Camille Garro Interiors, decided to expand her firm's responsibilities to include commercial interior design and home staging, Betty's in depth experience with both these areas, made her a perfect fit! Her knowledge in the technicalities of commercial design such as acoustics and efficiency of space, gives a more cohesive viewpoint while approaching spaces with a creative flare. Her sensibilities in home staging, allows her to fill a niche that has been proven to expedite the sale of homes.
Betty Wheeler's recent work includes being a member of the design team to rebuild Bradley Hall, the music school and recital hall for the River's School in Weston, Ma. Her current projects include working as purchasing agent for Stone House1854, a spa and inn located in Little Compton, R.I.
A project of special significance that Betty is involved with is a kitchen renovation at the Tremaine House in Madison, Ct. The property houses an aged farmhouse that features two additions and a barn designed by renowned contemporary architect Philip Johnson.
